Who we are
This site is run by Alex Farrell, trading as AFL Solar, of 27 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL. He is a sole trader, so there is no company number. Alex Farrell, trading as AFL Solar, is the data controller, which means he decides how the details you give us are used. To ask anything about this policy or your information, call 07442 511817, use the contact form or write to 27 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL.
What we collect
When you ask for a survey, the form records:
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your postcode
- Home or business, and the type of property
- Any solar you already have, what you want to know about and how you want your quote
- Anything you type in the message box
Like most sites, ours also logs a little technical data through our host, such as your browser and IP address, to keep things secure and running.
How we use it
- To call you and see whether your property suits what you asked about
- To arrange the free survey with the MCS-certified installation team
- To share your enquiry with that installation company, who needs it to carry out the survey, write the quote and, if you say yes, fit the system
- To update you on the survey and the quote
- To keep a record of enquiries and comply with the law
Your data is never sold, and no other company gets it for marketing.
Our legal basis
Two legal bases cover your enquiry: the consent you give when you tick the form’s box, and our legitimate interest in replying to people who want a survey arranged. Sharing it with the installation company is part of that, because they carry out the survey. Should you go ahead, you contract with the installation company directly, and they act as a separate data controller for that work under their own privacy policy.
Who we share it with
- The installation company. We share your enquiry with the MCS-certified installation team to arrange your survey. We pass on your contact details, your address and what you asked about, which is all they need to book the visit and prepare a quote. Your quote gives their name.
- Resend moves enquiry emails from the site into our inbox.
- Twilio can send us a text with your name, number, postcode and enquiry, which helps us ring back fast.
- Vercel is our website host.
- Google runs the analytics and ad measurement covered in the Cookies section, only once you have accepted them.
The law can also oblige us to hand data over, and we may disclose it to protect our legal rights.
How long we keep it
We hold enquiry data for up to 24 months from your last contact. If an installation follows, our enquiry and booking records stay for as long as accounting and legal rules require, typically six years.
Cookies
No cookies are needed for the site to work, and none are set without your say-so. Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion tracking are built in so we can see what leads to enquiries and measure our advertising, but they stay off until we switch them on. When we do, you will see a notice first. You can accept or choose Essential only, and nothing is set before you press Accept. Your browser remembers that choice until you clear this site’s data. Separately, the quote form saves your answers in session storage so they survive moving between pages, and they go when you close the tab.
Your rights
UK GDPR gives you the right to:
- See a copy of what we hold on you
- Get it corrected or deleted
- Limit or object to how it is used
- Change your mind about consent at any time
For any of these, call 07442 511817, use the contact form or write to 27 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL. If your enquiry has already gone to the installation company, we will pass your request on to them. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, the Information Commissioner’s Office takes complaints at ico.org.uk.
ICO registration in progress. The number will appear here once it is issued.
