- Batteries
Is a battery worth adding to the solar panels you already have? The West Yorkshire sums
Yes, if the house sits empty in the day. Send 1,500 kWh a year to the grid from a 3.5 kW West Yorkshire system and you earn about £120. Keep those units for the evening, when each would cost 26.32p, and they are worth about £395. If someone is home using the solar as it arrives, save your money.

Solar grants in West Yorkshire, council by council: what is real in 2026 and 2027
Most West Yorkshire homeowners will not get a cash grant for solar. Lower-income homes with an EPC of D to G can try the Warm Homes: Local Grant in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield or Calderdale, while Kirklees is missing from the GOV.UK list. Everyone else gets 0% VAT until 31 March 2027 and the Smart Export Guarantee.
