0% VAT ends 31 March 2027. The job needs fitting and invoicing before then.
How it works

From first enquiry to a fixed quote

Three steps and one point of contact. AFL Solar takes the enquiry and books the survey. Then the MCS-certified installation team, who have over 10 years and hundreds of installs behind them, surveys, quotes and fits. It costs nothing to find out, and you are never obliged to go ahead.

Three steps

Once you press send

  1. Step 1: You fill in the form or ring us

It takes five quick answers: home or business, the type of property, what you are after, your postcode and the best way to reach you. Or ring 07442 511817. What comes next is a person calling you back to talk it through.

  2. Step 2: We ring back and book your free survey

We call back within one working day. We ask about the roof, your bills and your daytime routine, give you a straight answer on whether solar suits the house and book the MCS-certified installation team for a time that works.

  3. Step 3: The installers surveys and gives a fixed quote

They spend half an hour to an hour at your home, checking the roof, the loft, the consumer unit and where a battery could go. An itemised written quote follows, fixed, with their name and MCS number on it. You are under no obligation.

Once you say yes

Fitting, handover and who to ring

Most quotes stop at the price. This is what follows a yes, and who does each job.

Timing counts for more than usual right now: 0% VAT ends on 31 March 2027 and the invoice date sets your rate.

Fitting
Normally one day, or two when a battery and a new consumer unit are part of the job. Scaffolders come a day or two ahead and take it down a few days after. The firm that surveyed your house is the firm that fits it.
Testing and the MCS certificate
The installation team tests and registers the system, then issues the MCS certificate. Your export tariff and your home insurer will both ask to see it.
Handover
You get the monitoring app on your phone, a walk through how the battery is set up and your warranty paperwork in your own name. You also get shown how to apply for an export tariff, so you collect what you are owed.
After that
One number: 07442 511817. Warranty, tariff or fault, it comes to us first, and chasing the installation team is our job.
Handy to have

Useful for the first call

  • A recent electricity bill, or your yearly usage in kWh from your supplier's app
  • Who is around in the daytime, and when the washing, cooking and car charging happen
  • Whether you already have panels, and roughly when they went on
  • Anything you know about the roof, such as its age, what it is made of and any shade from trees or chimneys
  • Where a battery might go: a garage, a utility room or an outside wall

You can manage without any of it, because the survey covers the lot in person. See what gets fitted: solar panels and a battery or a battery for existing solar.

Questions about the process

Not on the list? Ring the number at the top and a person will answer it.

Is the survey really free, with no obligation?
Yes on both counts. The survey costs nothing and the quote that follows is fixed and in writing. Accept it, sit on it or bin it. Nobody will ring to chase you, and if solar does not stack up for your house you will hear that at the survey.
Who turns up for the survey?
The MCS-certified installation team, who fit the system too. Your quote carries their name and MCS number. AFL Solar sorts the appointment, reminds you the day before and remains the people you ring throughout.
How long does the whole thing take?
You hear from us within one working day, and the survey usually happens in the next week or two. It takes half an hour to an hour, and the fixed quote arrives a few days later. Fitting usually follows a few weeks after you say yes, or longer as the VAT deadline gets close, and is normally done in a day.
What do I need for the first call?
An electricity bill or your yearly kWh is plenty, along with a rough idea of who is in during the day and whether you already have panels. Photos of the roof and fuse board help, though the survey covers both anyway.
What if something goes wrong after fitting?
Ring AFL Solar on 07442 511817. We chase the installation team so you are not left ringing round. Warranties sit with the installation team and the manufacturers, and your paperwork shows who covers what.
